Jason Wu's stunning collection for S/S 2013 | New York Fashion Week

Leather, lace, scarlet lips, sheer, harnesses, black and monochrome, yet very refined ...
the new trends for S/S 2013 are emerging
Set in the St. John Centre Warehouse of the West Side Highway, a white runway with black lines, and a huge mirror, creating a duality. It was like escaping into a woman's world of glamour and intrigue, a dark beauty.

Jason Wu, walked away from his formal style and introduced his woman to a new kind of feminine edgyness. You can envisage this woman walking along the beach at the French Riviera or Capri, or walking into the office with confidence and poise.
The collection included a combination of black and white , leather,  sheer and lace. The harnesses were present again, as much as they were in BCBG's Max Azria S/S 13 collection
Beautiful tailored suits, paired up with pretty, 1950's style high waisted shorts, similar to culottes. Cigarette pants and A-line skirts, paired up with, bralets, body suits or a leather tailored jacket. The textiles and materials bring images to mind of pin-ups and that of a dominatrix with figure hugging silhouettes and belts which defined the waist, enhancing the seductive trait of women.
Soft-pink, coral and navy blue made an appearance on the runway, styled with either black or white, to give a bit of contrast and to remind us about the Spring/Summer season, seeing that black will be very dominant in next year's summer collections.
The shoes had studded details, especially around the ankle, and the court shoes had a transparent detail, which added more to that suggestive feeling of the collection. Hat bags, leopard clutches and sheer gloves added a subtle touch, in contrast with the very bold looks.
The hair reaffirmed Wu's refined woman, styled with a side parting and a very smooth texture and magnetic scarlet red lips.
This collection is one of the most raved about collections at New York Fashion Week, Wu has moved away from his formalities but kept his identity well in tact, his woman is refined, confident and has no room for doubt, she knows what she wants.

New York Fashion Week | BCBG Max Azria S/S 2013

Lace, black, white, coral, talc, cream and a bondage feel, sexy, but still very elegant, the woman of BCBG Max Azria for Spring/Summer 2013.
BCBG Max Axria's collection was on the runway on day two of New York Fashion Week.  He was the  first on the day at Lincoln Center, and what a collection!
A collection which put sex on the runway without showing a lot of skin. The length of the dresses were under the knee and the chest was kept covered, but my oh my, it had a bondage feel, in a good way, mind you, with harnesses adorning the clothes and shoes with cuffs around the ankles.
Leather, sheer material, and high slits kept it young and contemporary, still not giving much away and keeping it sophisticated, perfect for a New York girl.
It is very feminine, delicate and refined, even though it has leather touches like belts and skirts.
The hair was kept very casual, a simple parting and lovely casual waves, which matched well with the dark make-up around the eyes and coral lips.

This collection is made for women who have a feminine casual style, I can imagine each dress being worn by It girls such as Alexa Chung or Ashley Olsen and celebrities like Taylor Swift, Leighton Meester and Whitney Port.

A powerful collection by the talented designer, I hope I manage to get my hands on one of the dresses

Day 2 | New York Fashion Week S/S 2013 Collections

New York Fashion Week - Tadashi Shoji, Joseph Abboud, Honor, Costello Tagliapietra, Duckie Brown

Day 2 of New York Fashion Week gave us some very interesting collections from the now not so new designers, established in their own right. The women's collections started with BCBG by Max Azria, Nicholas K and Tadashi Shoji and ended with Costello Tagliapietra and Honor whilst, Joseph Abboud and Duckie Brown showcased their men's collections.
All collections have a very light and young feel and prints are still very much in fashion for Spring/ Summer 2013.

The designers Costello Tagliapietra, stuck by what they know best, the woman's elegant silhouette, beautifully draped versatile dresses, which can be worn from day to night.

The Japanese designer, Tadashi Shoji, decided to splash out on lace. A collection which featured bold vibrant gowns in bright hues. All the gowns had a lace touch, a collection which calls out Spanish costume traditions, a collection for those women who want a classical cocktail dress, who do not shy away from bright colours and from being daring.

Giovanna Randall, the designer for Honor (who has just become one of my favourite designers) has probably gained a larger following. The collection is one if her best to date, and has also been given a lof of praise already.
Its light, fresh and pure ... white, grey. pink and very light leafy green colour, featuring a geometric abstract print on some dresses, pink lace, and a leaf print in brown, as well as a rose flower print on others. It featured big skirts and lovely fabrics, especially the pink mother of pearl colour which had a rich metallic effect.

This collection is just lovely, Giovanna Randall, this collection is gorgeous!

BCBG by Max Azria and the men's collections will be updated shorty in another post.
