Art Comes First | Pitti Uomo 84 | Florence | The DJ Project | Menswear

THE DJ TECHNIQUE APPLIED TO MENSWEAR | VINYLS AND THE FUTURE
Art Comes First, a group of creatives who I first saw at Pitti Uomo 83. They impressed me so much that I spent day after day visiting their stand and their stylish chess players who form part of the ACF creatives, then introducing "The Coal Project".

At Pitti Uomo 84 the ACF group, composed by founders Sam Lambert and Shakah Maidog with Matteo Gioli from Super Duper Hats iand Liam Maher from Denham, presented "The DJ Project", applying the DJ technique of mixing, vintage pieces, new fabrics, cutting, sewing and remaking all together, once again combing art and fashion, with the tradition of menswear design with processes of the future.
Their vision for this project is a hybrid, looking for inspiration from the music vinyl legends of the past with tailoring techniques of today.
This time round they had a room, sort of gallery and at the same time an installation with workshop, a sewing machine, tailors at work, hats, vinyls ... their outlet of inspiration.

Ruggero Mengoni Photographic Exhibition | Il Vaso Ermetico | Florence

The androgyny and the muse | "The vessel is the root and the principle of our art"
Photographic Exhibition

"II vaso รจ la radice e il principio dell'arte nostra" Dalla Philosophia reformata di Mylius

The exhibition was held during the week of Pitit Uomo 84 on the 18th of June in Florence, Italy.
The location was in San Frediano on the other side of the river in the old centre. The venue was a real art scene and the architecture reminded me of old houses from the 17th century, ancient mixed with modern art. It was full of sculptures, paintings, objects used for extravagant style settings and photo shoots and finally a living room furnished as a showcase-in a beautiful house ready to welcome artists as eclectic with Daniela Fiorilli visionary Ruggero Lupo Mengoni.

The model in the photographs is Simon, his look is out of this world, he is androgynous and beautiful. I just fell in love with him ... free flowing prosecco and focaccia set the night to be truly Florentine.

Il Vaso Ermetivo, The Hermetic Vase, is a collective project that was born from the visionary photographer Ruggero Lupo Mengoni with designer Daniela Fiorilli.
The Hermetic Vase, is an intimate journey that blends with ECLECTIC seeking to mark a path between art and emotion. A space incubator for ideas, a place for discussion and experimentation born out of a consolidated two young artists, Virginia Panichi and Eleonora. A union so perfect as to make them a single identity: ECLECTIC.

Una notte Fiorentina ... a great exhibition and I hope Daniela and Ruggero take it elsewhere because it was a match made in artistic heaven!

Meeting Scott Schuman from The Sartorialist in Florence | Pitti Uomo

Pitti Uomo and Scott Schuman in Florence January 2013
Pitti Uomo week was eventful, you cannot imagine how much. I was all over Florence from Polimoda, to La Fortezza where Pitti Uomo was being held, to fashion shows and to parties, it was fun and such a great week.

On the first day of Pitti Uomo, during my work assignment for Trendstop, I bumped into no other than Scott Schuman, the man behind The Sartorialist and the man who made street style what it is today.
At Pitti Uomo January 8th 2013
The following Thursday, there was a book signing by him at Polimoda, and I was informed that it had to end at 8:30pm, knowing that, I went to the Maison Kitsune fashion show and arrived at Polimoda at 7:30pm. As soon as I arrived, I was told that the book signing was over, until I met one of his assistants and told me to wait, I did and got both books signed, The Sartorialist and Closer signed.

Thank you Mr.Schuman for being such an inspiration not only in street style and photography but also how we look at fashion now.

The city is buzzing with activity and the fashion elite is here ... Firenze

Le Blog de Betty being photographed next to the Duomo
I must say that this has been and will be the most exciting week. This weekend I met fashion bloggers, Chiara Ferragni and Bryan Boy at Volume. They were with Riccardo Pozzoli (Chiara's boyfriend) and Eleonora Carisi, whom I did not recognise (shame on me), I follow her immaculately.

With Bryan Boy ... I was so upset, I wasn't looking my fashion best

Pitti Uomo is here and Florence lights up with fashion activities, before and after.

Luisa Via Roma's event Firenze 4Ever brings all the famous fashion bloggers, to his beautiful old city.
Photoshoots and style labs, food and drinks, dinners and parties, two days filled with activities.
All bloggers wear the new Spring/Summer 2013 collections, they choose a designer and a location to suit the  drama and glamour behind their outfit.
